Sickness and Injury

The preschool cannot cater for children that are unwell. Please keep children at home until they have fully recovered.

This includes the following symptoms:

  • a temperature
  • in need of one on one care
  • vomiting/diarrhoea in the last 24 hours
  • contagious illness
  • head-lice or conjunctivitis

Please notify the preschool of your child's illness or the reason for their absence.

Medication

If your child is required to have medication during preschool hours then you need to give written permission in our medication book. The Teacher will then sign when the medication has been administered. Staff can only administer medication prescribed by a doctor, not over the counter medication such as cough medicine or paracetamol. Please do not leave any medication in your child's bag.

Please give medication to your child's teacher for safe keeping or refrigeration. Please do not pack any medication in your child's bag.

Asthma and other Long Term Conditions

Where medication for treatment of long-term conditions such as asthma, ADHD, epilepsy, allergy. A plan of action form needs to be completed with full details such as severity of attacks, warning signs, methods of acute care etc. The asthma record form can be found below. Forms are to be printed, completed and handed into the office. Forms are to be kept current.

Illness, Accidents and Emergency Treatment

If a child becomes ill at preschool or in the case of an accident or emergency, the parents will be contacted and asked to collect the child or make arrangements for their collection. If parents an't be contacted the Emergency Contacts will be.
